K-12 Excellence: Our Commitment to the Next Generation
Tippah County is an ideal place for employees and their families to thrive, anchored by a public school system recognized for its excellence. The county’s schools earn an A-minus grade and are ranked among the Top 25 Best Public School Districts in Mississippi. This commitment to academic quality is demonstrated by our two local districts:
North Tippah School District
Serving Walnut, Falkner, and Chalybeate, this district is guided by a clear mission: to educate every student “in preparation for college, the workforce, and/or the military in a safe but challenging environment”. It backs this with impressive results, including a 96% district graduation rate and a 1:1 student-to-device ratio
South Tippah School District
Serving Ripley, Blue Mountain, and Pine Grove, this district is a recognized leader in performance. It has earned a prestigious “A” rating from the state, and Ripley High School was named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, a testament to its high standards and academic excellence.
Career & Technical Education: The K-12 Pathway
As part of our comprehensive high school curriculum, the Tippah Career & Technology Center (TCTC) serves students from both school districts, providing a direct pathway to high-demand skills. This facility ensures students have hands-on experience in critical fields, with programs including
Welding
Health Science
Information Technology
Construction/Carpentry

Local & Regional Higher Education
Our residents have outstanding access to post-secondary education, from a nationally-ranked private university within the county to a comprehensive, award-winning community college.
Blue Mountain Christian University (BMCU):
Located on a 44-acre campus in Blue Mountain, BMCU is a cornerstone of our community’s academic life. Founded in 1873, this co-educational institution is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award a range of degrees, including the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.),
and Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.). It is also a leader in graduate studies, offering Master of Education degrees in Elementary Education and Literacy/Reading. Reflecting its commitment to modern learning, NEMCC is a globally recognized Apple Distinguished School, an honor it has held since 2019 for its innovative integration of technology across all programs.
